Rock Climbing In The Nude, Pictures For The Win!

Dean Fidelman (that sounds like a made up name… fidel man… or Cuban, maybe Dean FIDELman is actually FIDEL Castro) has been taking nude pictures of female rock climbers for yeaaaaars, like ten years or something like that. And now, in 2014, no wait we’re still in 2013… And now, in 2013, he’s selling a calendar of stone nudes; a calendar for 2014, that’s where the mix up happened.

Anyhow, Stone Nudes. It’s a bunch of naked chicks climbing rocks freestyle. It’s pretty amazing:

Stone Nudes: an extract of the art of climbing. Intended to inspire and celebrate the human form. Stone Nudes draws from the community it represents. Over the last ten years, a body of over one hundred photographs drawing from three generations of climbers has evolved.

Unlike current climbing media, these images do not seek to sell or promote anything beyond the experience. This approach has attracted climbers of all abilities to participate in a project designed to capture the essence of the climbing spirit.

All of which is too say this is art not porn, but I like to think of it as a little bit of both, because looking at naked bodies climbing rocks, as opposed to trying to open a jar of pickles, is rather rad. As I’ve said before, it’s really interesting to see how a particular sport or activity shapes a body.

I’m surprised these ladies don’t carry more muscle. I bet the muscles they do have are has hard as rock, though. I could not, repeat, could not, do what they are doing. It looks fun, and a little dangerous, so I see the appeal, but I very much lack upper body strength and I would probably die if I tried.

Sure is fun looking at these ladies do it. Especially, since they’re naked. It makes me feel like I have x-ray vision since these are nude ladies in a context were you really wouldn’t expect to see them nude. I like. But, but, what the hell happens if they fall. There are no ropes or harnesses?!
